New ESC Guidelines on diabetes, pre-diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases

New Guidelines on diabetes, pre-diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases(CVD) were presented at the European Congress of Cardiology in Paris. The key points were the lack of division of primary and secondary prevention concept and a change in the concept of medium, high and very high risk of CVD development. The target level of low density lipoprotein cholesterol depends on the risk magnitude  - below 2.5 mmol/l, 1.8 mmol /l and less than 1.4 mmol /l for patients with medium, high and very high risk of CVD, respectively. The level of glycated hemoglobin is recommended to be maintained below 7%.
